Research
Dr. Gershon's lab studies the interrelation between normal brain growth and pediatric brain tumor formation. They focus on the cerebellum, which is a key site of postnatal brain growth, and on medulloblastoma, a cerebellar tumor that is the most common malignant brain tumor in children. The lab works primarily with in vivo models and focus on tumor metabolism, cellular heterogeneity, and microenvironment. They are studying therapies that target tumor metabolism, that block tumor recurrence, and that use the immune system for anti-tumor effect. The goal is to develop new treatments for brain tumors based on their unique biology.
