Background
Board certified in hematology and medical oncology, Hussein Hamad, MD, MPH, practices general medical oncology and hematology with a focus on treating patients with gastrointestinal cancer at Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital. Dr. Hamad is an assistant professor in the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine. Prior to joining the faculty at Emory in 2024, he was an attending physician at University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center at Geauga Medical Center in Chardon, Ohio.
Dr. Hamad completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at Beirut Arab University in Beirut, Lebanon. He holds a Master of Public Health from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Harvard University in Boston, Massachusetts. He completed his residency in internal medicine at John Stroger Hospital of Cook County in Chicago, Illinois and a fellowship in hematology and oncology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
