Research
Dr. He's research studies the role of iron in the pathogenesis and progression of metabolic diseases, including diabetes and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), by using mouse models of streptozotocin-induced type 1 diabetes, db/db type 2 diabetes, and Western diet-induced NASH models. These studies are being explored in two directions, 1) regulation of iron metabolism by pathological signaling (e.g. hyperactive PKC), and 2) detrimental impacts of iron loading on disease progression.
Publications
Dr. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed scientific journals. He serves on the editorial boards of Frontiers in Pharmacology and Journal of Translational Science and Research.
