I know that I have a difficult condition to treat (Meniere's), but even so, the doctor was very blase about it and I had to ask a lot of questions to get his opinions. |
|
07/30/2024 |
I was seen first by a terrific resident (Dr. Boulder?) who was very friendly and patient with me. Then Dr. Mattox and Dr. Boulder and another resident (?) came in. Dr. Mattox was charmingly self-effacing and very thorough and confirmed what Dr. Boulder told me. |

Dr. Mattox and his NP were great! |
|
07/24/2024 |
I understand this is teaching hospital but the amount of residents with provider was a lot. There was one resident (2nd year) who did my workup and two more residents that came in with the provider during his exam. |

Dr. Mattox had no clue as to the cause of my worsening problem. He will be metting with the Balance Center people next week and they will discuss the problem. He promised a phone call at the conclusion of the meeting. He thought that "habituation and walking with a cane were good ideas, |

05/24/2024 |
This was the first time I was very pleased with the Dr. This time he did listen to my concerns and he did not walk away or leave the room as I was talking to him so this was a great improvement from all the previous visits. |

05/12/2024 |
I had to ask if there were any reasonable treatment for the continuing loss of hearing in my ear... The explanation was that surgery *might* be possible but he did not recommend it. I then had to ask if a hearing aid would help. It seems to me that the options should have been presented without my inquiry. |

Dr Mattox's care was excellent. Very professional and I felt he had resolved any concerns about a possible neuroma on the vestibular canals. Dr Mattox also offered to contact me after the radiologist reviewed the MRI I brought in with me. |

Dr. Mattox answered all my questions and was efficient and gentle in his procedure with my ear, preparing me by saying that I might feel al little dizziness, but that is normal and would pass! |
|
06/21/2023 |
This doctor always shows concern for your welfare and well-being. He remembers you as a person and not only as a patient. |
|
06/08/2023 |
Dr mattox stated that he saw nothing that needed to be done, the bone was in tact. |
|
06/03/2023 |
The physician was dismissive and rough with me. When I attempted to speak to him, he grabbed my head and abruptly turned it in his examination, as if he was irritated with my questions I will never return to him. He was rough in his examination and condescending when engaging with me. |
|
06/01/2023 |
Had a very good day. First time I have ever been comfortable about a doctor's appointment. Trust is not always easy for me concerning seeing doctor's. |
|
05/18/2023 |
Although Dr. Matrox is a great doctor and one of the best. I didn't feel like he really cared and I was just another surgery to get out the way. |
|
05/11/2023 |
In fairness to Dr. Mattox, I came to see him as a follow-up to an earlier diagnosis of hearing loss. However, as an ENT, he did not ask me any questions about my nose or throat. He spent about ten minutes with me to talk about the need for and the cost of hearing aid. Prior to his appearance in the room, an intern came in to ask a few questions. None of them touched my ears or examined pertinent areas of the ears, nose or throat. Keep in mind, this was my first visit to Dr. Mattox. The audiologist did examine my ears. Again maybe that is why he did not see a need to be more hands-on. |
|
04/19/2023 |
The visit was just a waste of time. The doctor gave me no real explanation or treatment. Just deal w it. Saw him for like 3 minutes. I should've been an audiologist |
|

04/01/2023 |
It was excellent as I have a serious condition and Dr Maddox provided lots of information, gave options and things to ponder. |
|
03/23/2023 |
I have never given a Dr a bad review until Dr Mattox. He spent no time with me in the room (less than 5 minutes) - described my issue as "as annoyance" for me to deal with and said there was nothing he could do. Which is fine. But he took no time to actually question me or dig into what might be causing my problem. He flat out lied in the summary notes because there were things referenced there he did not do (ex. Use tuning forks, look at my face, or neck). He barely even looked in my ears. He noted there was no change in my ringing with veinous suppression - not true. I told him the noise changed at that time. He paid no attention. I've dealt with this a long time - I am well aware treatment is pretty much non existent but coming to Dr Mattox was a huge waste of my time and on top of that he obviously had better places to be. |
|
03/18/2023 |
Dr. Mattox felt very dismissive and eager to leave the room when I was with him. I told him about my issue with background noise and he said "everyone struggles with that" despite my audiologist recognizing that I displayed a distinct symptom there that was not typical. Thankfully, my symptoms are mild and I feel comfortable navigating next steps on my own, he did nothing to help that. I was very happy that I was able to engage with such a kind and supportive audiologist who gave me more resources than Dr. Mattox. |

Thank you Dr.Mattox for your urgency on scheduling my biopsy and surgery for this parotid gland tumor. It's nice to see doctors who still care about their patients. I'm happy you haven't chosen to retire yet even though it's well deserved. |

|
11/13/2022 |
I can't say enough about how wonderful DR Mattox is! I always have tons of questions and he listens and explains things to me! He is a compassionate DR! |
|
10/22/2022 |
Dr. Mattox was kind and listened as the patient explained his health issues and reason for the office visit. Dr. Mattox explained that he needed an additional CT scan of the patient's ears in order to better diagnose/determine treatment. The patient was encouraged that perhaps Dr. Mattox will be able to resolve the hearing issue that the patient has dealt with for years. |
|
09/23/2022 |
I felt like that he did great getting the object out of my ear. I appreciated that a lot. I did feel that my problems were not discussed enough. He was honest in saying he did not know, but it left me with a feeling of frustration. I feel like the dizziness and tinnitus could have at least been explored a bit more. I wanted to find the root of the issue. It is kind of frustrating as I was told that he knew so much about the issue. Perhaps, I expected him to figure out things that he could not.. One wants to know about imbalance to solve it. If the root cause is not found, it just may reoccur over and over. Perhaps this therapist he recommended might help, but I want to know why my balance is distorted and why the ears hurt in and out... |
