Catherine Vena, PhD, RN, MS, is an associate professor in the Office of Academic Advancement at Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing of Emory University. Dr. Vena has over 40 years of experience in the field of nursing and is a member of the Cancer Prevention and Control Research Program at Winship.
Education
Dr. Vena earned her PhD in Nursing from Emory University. She also holds an MS in Nursing from Clemson University and is a registered nurse.

Research
Dr. Vena's primary research interest is in the bidirectional interaction between sleep and cancer disease/treatment processes and their influence on patient outcomes. She is currently the primary investigator on a National Cancer Institute funded exploratory study evaluating sleep-related disturbances in breathing and nocturnal hypoxia in patients with non-small cell lung cancer.
