Raymond Walker III, MDiv, BCC, CCSH-RC, serves as manager of spiritual health and community care for Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital, Emory Johns Creek Hospital and Emory Buford Clinic. Raymond is a process improvement specialist and senior spiritual health clinician at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University. Raymond coaches teams through endeavors of continuous improvement, grounded in lean principles to assist organizational movement toward Winship's True North. He also provides administrative leadership to the Winship Spiritual Health team, supporting and assisting in their work of compassionate and inclusive care of patients, staff and their loved ones.
Raymond is a board-certified chaplain, member of the Association of Professional Chaplains and is endorsed for healthcare chaplaincy by The Episcopal Church. He is also a registered clinician of Compassion-Centered Spiritual Health through Emory University. He is a candidate for Holy Orders in The Episcopal Church, Diocese of Atlanta. It is his deep love and respect for the human dignity of all people, that drives him in his daily life and work of both continuous improvement and compassionate care.
Education
Raymond began his training in 2017 with Spiritual Health at Emory Healthcare while enrolled in seminary. He received his Master of Divinity in 2018 from Columbia Theological Seminary. He completed a one-year residency with Emory Healthcare in 2018-2019 and a two-year Compassion-Centered Spiritual Health Fellowship in 2019-2021. He is currently training to become a Compassion-Centered Spiritual Health Teams Interventionist and Cognitively Based Compassion Training™ Teacher.
