Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University supports exceptional physician-scientists pursuing careers in cancer research, treatment or prevention through the Elkin Fellowship and Rochfort Scholarship.

Overview

Nell W. and William S. Elkin Fellowships and Chester P. Rochfort Scholarships are offered twice annually.

Nell W. and William S. Elkin Fellowship in Oncology

The Nell W. and William S. Elkin Fellowship in Oncology is to assist an extraordinary scientist and clinician with career goals in the research and treatment of cancer. Scholarships are $35,000 for one year and are intended to help cover partial salary, laboratory or other research expenses or travel. A discretionary account will be set up for use by the recipient’s department.

Chester P. Rochfort Scholarship in Oncology

The Chester P. Rochfort Scholarship in Oncology< is to assist young MD degree holders in cancer research. The scholarship is $10,000 for one year and intended to help cover partial salary, laboratory or other research expenses or travel. A discretionary account will be set up for use by the recipient’s department.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this award mechanism, the applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • Physician (MD, MD/PhD) with enrollment within the Emory University School of Medicine or Rollins School of Public Health Fellowship Programs
  • Awardee must be in an oncology field with career goals in the research and treatment/prevention of cancer.
