Winship research teams receive Catalyst Fund awards
Winship research teams led by Edmund K. Waller, MD, PhD, and Eric Miller, PhD,
have been named the inaugural recipients of Winship Catalyst Fund awards for their projects, “Targeting Signaling through the Vasoactive Intestinal Polypeptide Receptor as Immunotherapy for AML” and “Best-in-Class Orally Bioavailable Small Molecule CXCR4 Antagonists for Cancer Treatment.” Through a generous philanthropic gift from Berny Gray, the Winship Catalyst Fund supports the development of novel treatment approaches for cancer therapy, diagnostics or prevention, with the goal of seeking an Investigational New Drug (IND) application from the FDA.
Theresa Gillespie, PhD, MA, Winship’s associate director for community outreach and engagement, received the 2023 Award for Distinguished Leadership at the Emory Women of Excellence Awards ceremony on March 3. The awards recognize women who have demonstrated extraordinary dedication to issues that affect women at Emory and in the larger community.
