Winship clinicians and scientists will lead sessions and share their latest discoveries at the annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) in Chicago, June 2-6, 2023. More than 30 Winship presenters will describe new therapeutic targets and approaches; innovative tools to predict and improve treatment response; cancer prevention studies to understand and reduce the impact of hereditary, social and environmental risk factors; and research that aims to identify and mitigate demographic disparities in cancer care and outcomes.
Based on data from two phase 3 clinical trials (LIGHTHOUSE and SPOTLIGHT), the Food and Drug Administration has approved POSLUMA, the first radiohybrid drug for PET imaging of prostate-specific membrane antigen-positive lesions in men with prostate cancer. Coordinating investigator for the SPOTLIGHT study was Winship researcher David M. Schuster, MD.

Winship's Cell and Molecular Biology (CMB) Program will hold its 2023 retreat in Emory’s Health Sciences Research Building I on June 9, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. With the theme "Boosting Team Science and Maximizing Impact," the retreat will focus on driving collaboration across Winship’s research programs and disease teams to foster new team science, translate discoveries to the clinic and connect research to public health.

The 2023 UGA-Winship Cancer Research Summit will take place on July 17, in Athens, Ga. Faculty, students and trainees will share research on emerging topics that span basic, translational, clinical and population sciences in oral and poster presentations.
The 14th Annual Winship Oncology Nursing Symposium will be held at the Atlanta Evergreen Lakeside Resort, Aug. 25-26. The symposium will cover some of the latest trends in oncology practice and care, with sessions led by experts in the field. Attendees will be awarded up to 18.0 contact hours by the Emory Nursing Professional Development Center.
