Sixty-six Winship physicians were recognized in Atlanta magazine's annual roster of the city's best doctors. The "Top Doctors" list, published in the magazine's July issue, includes physicians representing Emory Healthcare, Emory Healthcare Network, Emory medical staff or faculty of Emory University School of Medicine.
Winship has received a T32 grant from the National Cancer Institute to help develop the next generation of researchers and leaders in cancer biology. Winship member David S. Yu, MD, PhD, will serve as program director for the new Winship T32 Cancer Biology Training Program, which will welcome its first cohort of postdoctoral trainees (PhDs and/or MDs) this summer. Applications for this year’s cohort are due July 28.
Winship member Jenny Shim, MD, has received a four-year Clinician Scientist Development Grant from the American Cancer Society. The project will investigate the mechanism of the interplay between YAP1 and RAS signaling in pediatric tumor neuroblastoma and aims to target YAP1 with novel small molecule inhibitors in combination with chemotherapy and MEK inhibitors.

The 2023 UGA-Winship Cancer Research Summit will take place on July 17 in Athens, Ga. Faculty, students and trainees will share research on emerging topics that span basic, translational, clinical and population sciences in oral and poster presentations. Registration closes July 12.
The 14th Annual Winship Oncology Nursing Symposium will be held at the Atlanta Evergreen Lakeside Resort, Aug. 25-26. The symposium will cover some of the latest trends in oncology practice and care, with sessions led by experts in the field. Attendees will be awarded up to 18.0 contact hours by the Emory Nursing Professional Development Center.
