At Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University, our surgeons specialize in head and neck cancer and have extensive experience developing groundbreaking treatments that set the standard of care. Our surgeons are leaders in transoral robotic surgery (TORS), offering a less invasive approach with faster recovery in selected cases. Our experienced microvascular reconstructive team provides superior care for patients in need of major reconstruction after treatment of their cancers, and our inpatient team is specialized in caring for patients recovering from reconstruction.

Because head and neck cancer treatment is complex, it often requires a combination of therapies, including surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. Studies show that a coordinated multidisciplinary team approach provides the highest quality of care, including faster times from initial consultation to first cancer treatment, a reduction in wait times and greater patient satisfaction. Our head and neck cancer clinic operates in a multidisciplinary fashion, with our surgeons collaborating with medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, pharmacists and other specialists. We also partner with you to recommend the best path forward for your patient, and we work together with your patient to personalize their cancer treatment plan.

Our comprehensive multidisciplinary team also includes speech and swallowing therapists, audiologists, dietitians, dentists, nurses, nurse navigators, social workers, clinical trial coordinators and others to best support patients.
