A Dream Coming True in Midtown Atlanta
The challenge from the Robert W. Woodruff Foundation in providing Emory University with its largest-ever single donation of $200 million for a new oncology center was to build something never seen or imagined: Winship Cancer Institute at Emory Midtown. Thanks in part to the support of generous philanthropic donations, the 17-story, full-service inpatient and outpatient cancer care center is set to open in May 2023.
Placing the Patient at the Center
The new Winship at Emory Midtown facility, comprising of more than 450,000 square feet, is being built around a patient's needs and comfort, bringing all the necessary doctors, staff and services to the patient so the patient does not need to switch locations during their visit. The care communities will focus on patients with specific types of cancer, providing specialized infusion facilities, clinical examination rooms, clinical research, and spaces for support and rehabilitation services.
Design Guided by The Winship WayWinship at Emory Midtown was designed with input from patients, faculty and staff who will occupy the new building, and the process was guided by The Winship Way, a Winship-specific approach to delivering patient centered cancer care.
