Background
Sujith Baliga, MD, is a board-certified radiation oncologist who specializes primarily in the treatment of head and neck and base-of-skull cancers. He has expertise in proton therapy. He treats patients at Emory Proton Therapy Center and Winship Cancer Institute at Emory Midtown.
Dr. Baliga is an associate professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine. Prior to joining Emory in 2026, he served on the faculty and as clinical director of pediatric proton radiation oncology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
Dr. Baliga received his medical degree with research distinction from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York. He completed his residency in radiation oncology at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, where he served as chief resident in his final year. He completed a fellowship in pediatric proton therapy at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston.

Research
Dr. Baliga’s research interests are in head and neck cancers, particularly evaluating strategies to reduce toxicity and de-escalate radiotherapy in HPV-associated oropharyngeal cancers.
Publications
Dr. Baliga has authored or co-authored more than 70 research articles and has been a reviewer for the International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology and Physics, Practical Radiation Oncology, Frontiers in Medicine and JNCI Cancer Spectrum, where he is an associate editor.
