Dr. Ebelhar earned his medical degree from the University of Mississippi in Jackson. He completed his residency in pediatrics at Emory University, followed by a fellowship in pediatric hematology/oncology and palliative care at Emory. He also earned a Master of Science in Clinical Research from Emory University.

Dr. Ebelhar's research focuses on the intersection of pediatric hematology/oncology and palliative care and attempts to understand patient and caregiver distress for children diagnosed with cancer, with a particular focus on the impact of cancer of patient and caregiver spirituality and spiritual distress.
