Nicholas Giordano, PhD, RN, FAAN, is a tenure-track associate professor at Emory University's Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing.
Education
Dr. Giordano earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Science and PhD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, as well as an AM in statistics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed postdoctoral training at the Uniformed Services University's Defense and Veterans Center for Integrative Pain Management. Dr. Giordano is a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and a former Fulbright Scholar.

Research
Dr. Giordano's research focuses on understanding symptom trajectories to help deliver timely, targeted interventions that improve outcomes for patients and clinicians. His work aims to enhance pain and symptom assessment and support the implementation of opioid-sparing interventions for athletes, trauma patients, veterans and older adults undergoing orthopedic surgery. As a data-driven nurse scientist, he collaborates with clinicians to advance health system research priorities using improvement science methods.
