Background
Shervin V. Oskouei, MD, began practicing with Emory Healthcare in 2004 and is board certified and fellowship-trained in orthopedic surgery. Dr. Oskouei is an expert in the treatment of musculoskeletal tumors, performing hundreds of total hip and total knee replacements annually and leading in the use of stem cells to treat arthritis of the hip and knee.
Dr. Oskouei is involved with numerous projects involving musculoskeletal tumors. In collaboration with colleagues at Winship Cancer Institute, his team is looking at specific markers to develop drugs against sarcomas and is establishing a database of sarcomas at Emory.
Dr. Oskouei is also on two separate national teams to design the orthopaedic implants of the future. He is looking at advanced biomaterials and trying to develop ways to make soft tissues attach more readily to orthopaedic implants.
