The Resident was not on the same page as the Surgeon. Resident said I could have surgery and make an apt any time I wanted. I did not have to make any follow up apt, just call schedule surgery. Surgeon came in and said "that's not how this works". I am to manage my pain and we should see if surgery is necessary

I was literally told by the doctor that he is really an oncologist orthopedist and the delay was relating to a hard conversation he had to have with one of his patients earlier in the day. Dr. Oskouei and his team are wonderful people. He did a hip replacement surgery for me and it is healing pretty well. I was worried about experiencing another sickle cell crisis during/after surgery as it happened to me after childbirth last year- prior to childbirth, I hadn't had crisis for twenty years, this made me very sad. When I came to Emory to see Dr Oskouei, he assured me that the room would be kept warm.I got to the hospital a day before surgery and to my greatest surprise all the other doctors and nurses on my case knew about it and followed through. It was even written on the board as "doctor's orders", and as a reminder. This blew my mind! Not only did he not forget, he kept his word. I recommend him 1000%

My previous experience with Dr was excellent so I guess I was expecting the same for this visit. I will still say he is an awesome doctor who was like an angel for me 4 years ago.However, I was very disappointed this time. He seemed very busy, reviewed my MRI. He Was barely in the room for 5 mins, explained my MRI results briefly, didn't even bother to check my hip or area that was hurting - left it all to his resident / assistant to give him the details. Emory has a very good reputation and name in the medical field, Unfortunately my expectations were too high from past experience.

I am a retired physician and I was a bit disappointed that the imaging )MRI) that I provided was not shown to me and discussed in my presence. I feel most patients, even those not as experienced and comfortable with medical issues, would have felt even more informed and educated after seeing the images and hearing why treatment decisions were made based on that data. It was not a severe or uncomfortable feeling. I just would have felt better seeing the MRI and hearing about it's findings.
