Biography
Maria Ribeiro, MD, is a professor in the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Ribeiro formerly served as section chief of hematology and medical oncology at the Atlanta VA Medical Center, where she initiated and developed a research program focused on how to drive quality research through accruals to National Cancer Institute clinical trials and how to improve quality cancer care in the face of limited resources.
Education
Dr. Ribeiro received her medical degree at the Federal University of Minas Gerais Medical School in Brazil. She completed her internship at Harlem Hospital and Medical Center in New York, where she also completed her residency. She then went on to complete fellowships at University of Connecticut Health Center, Emory University Hospital and the Centers for Disease Control National Center for Infectious Diseases.

Research
Although Dr. Ribeiro still has strong clinical interest in advances of therapy of thrombosis and hemostasis problems, the goal of Dr. Ribeiro's research program is to improve quality of cancer care and clinical trials accrual.
