Michael A. Schneider, MD, PhD, is a hematologist who specializes in treating lymphoma and other hematologic malignancies. He joined the clinical staff at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University as an attending physician in 2025.

A physician-scientist, Dr. Schneider's research focuses on understanding factors that influence the efficacy of immunotherapies in lymphoma, including CAR T-cells, BiTEs and immune checkpoint inhibitors.
He earned his medical degree and PhD from Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, New York. He completed his internal medicine residency and his hematology and oncology fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

I am especially grateful to Dr. Schneider for requesting additional detail about my recent PET scan from the radiologist. This additional information provided a lot of clarity that was absent from the initial report. I don't understand why radiologists' reports have been lacking some details and, when requested specifically, some have not supplied it. In this case, the radiologist did supply the additional information, for which I'm grateful. But it seems to me that there is a practice of writing vague reports, which are often frustrating for both doctors and patients attempting to use them as care and treatment guides.In any case, I want to emphasize that I'm very pleased with the care Dr. Schneider has provided to me.
