Puneet Singh, MD, MS, FACS, FSSO, is a board-certified breast surgical oncologist and Associate Professor of Surgery in the Division of Breast Surgery at Emory University School of Medicine. She specializes in the surgical treatment of breast cancer and benign breast disease, with an emphasis on providing individualized, multidisciplinary care that optimizes oncologic outcomes while minimizing the morbidity of treatment. Her primary practice locations are Emory University Hospital Midtown and Winship Cancer Institute at Midtown.
Dr. Singh's clinical and research interests focus on personalizing the surgical management of breast cancer, particularly management of the axillary lymph nodes. Her research examines opportunities to safely reduce the extent of axillary surgery by incorporating tumor biology, response to systemic therapy, imaging and predictive modeling into surgical decision-making. Dr. Singh's articles have been published in a number of leading scientific journals including Annals of Surgery, JAMA Network Open, Journal of the American College of Surgeons, Annals of Surgical Oncology, and Cancer.
Prior to joining Emory, Dr. Singh was an Associate Professor of Surgery at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where she also served as Program Director of the Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship. Education and mentorship are important components of her academic career, with particular interests in breast surgical oncology fellowship education, graduated surgical autonomy and the professional development of trainees. She is also actively involved in several professional societies.
Dr. Singh received her medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in 2011 and completed her general surgery residency at the University of Chicago in 2018. She also completed a two-year research fellowship and a fellowship in clinical medical ethics at the University of Chicago during her residency before completing a Breast Surgical Oncology fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center in 2019. She subsequently earned a Master of Science in Clinical Research from UTHealth Houston.
