Jithin Sam Varghese, PhD, MTech, is an assistant professor in the Hubert Department of Global Health and the Department of Epidemiology at the Rollins School of Public Health. He is a faculty member of the Emory Global Diabetes Research Center and a member of the Cancer Prevention and Control Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute. He also serves as co-director of the Emory Global Diabetes Research Center's Diabetes Translational Accelerator.
Education
Dr. Varghese earned his Master of Technology in biotechnology from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras in Chennai, India, and his PhD in nutrition and health sciences from the Laney Graduate School at Emory University in Atlanta. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Emory Global Diabetes Research Center.

Research
A chronic disease epidemiologist, Dr. Varghese focuses on improving understanding of cardiometabolic health by identifying disease subtypes and characterizing high-risk subgroups. He draws on experience in consulting, nutrition, data science and mental health to address public health challenges in low-, middle- and high-income countries. View his research projects.
