Our Multidisciplinary Sarcoma Team

Sarcomas are a group of remarkably diverse and rare neoplasms that frequently pose significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. Therefore, treatment of such tumors is best performed in a multidisciplinary setting with pathologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and surgeons who specialize in the care of patients with sarcomas. At the Winship Cancer Institute, we have a multidisciplinary team of clinicians that have a specific interest and expertise in the diagnosis, assessment, and management of patients with bone, soft-tissue, or retroperitoneal sarcomas.

Our Team includes:

  • Sarcoma Pathologists
  • Radiation Oncologists
  • Medical Oncologists
  • Orthopedic Oncologists
  • Surgical Oncologists
  • Thoracic Surgeons
  • Musculoskeletal Radiologists

Representatives from nutrition, pharmacy, rehabilitation, and palliative care services round out the Team. The interaction of these specialists is critical in developing plans of care for each patient. The Team meets weekly at the Sarcoma Multidisciplinary Conference to discuss cases, review treatment plans, and identify new treatment strategies.
