R. Donald Harvey, PharmD, director of the Winship Phase I Clinical Trials Unit, has been named a fellow of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). The distinction recognizes ASCO members for their extraordinary volunteer service, dedication and commitment to the organization and the patients they serve.
Winship member Wilbur Lam, MD, PhD, has accepted the role of associate dean of innovation for Emory University School of Medicine. In this role, he will lead the establishment of the Innovation Center at the newly constructed Health Sciences Research Building II. He will also work to optimize the alignment of innovation projects and initiatives across the school and with collaborating institutions.
Winship member Ali J. Zarrabi, MD, has received a Kornfeld Scholars Program Award from the National Palliative Care Research Center, which provides outstanding early-career investigators with funding and protected time to conduct innovative research in the field. The two-year award will support Zarrabi’s research to identify and characterize the phenotypes of multidimensional suffering, with the goal of developing improved precision palliative care strategies for patients.
Bioinformatics analysts Kinzie Garrison, PhD, and Janani Kunrathur Pasupathy, ME, MS, and assistant bioinformatic scientist Sierra Nishizaki, PhD, recently joined the Emory Integrated Computational Core. Jointly managed by Winship and Emory University School of Medicine, the core facility offers comprehensive computational services and bioinformatics pipelines for the analysis of -omics data.
