Biography
Charles Cho, MD, PhD, is an assistant professor in the Division of Digestive Sciences of the Department of Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine. A board-certified gastroenterologist and endoscopist, Dr. Cho is a physician-scientist investigating gastrointestinal diseases.
Dr. Cho is a member of the Cell and Molecular Biology Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University.
Education
Dr. Cho received his MD from Hanyang University, College of Medicine in Seoul, Korea. He completed his internship, medical residency and clinical fellowship at Asan Medical Center in Seoul, Korea. He earned his PhD and his MSc from University of Ulsan College of Medicine in Seoul, Korea. He completed his postdoctoral training at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri.

Research
Dr. Cho's research interests lie in the field of gastrointestinal diseases, with a focus on:
- Determining cellular changes during injury (e.g., paligenosis, metaplasia) in the stomach and pancreas.
- Understanding the crucial link between paligenosis in pancreatic acinar cells and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma.
- Investigating changes in ribosome biogenesis and translation during paligenosis and tumorigenesis in the pancreas.
