Research
Dr. Hu’s research program involves two synergistic components: (1) a methodological component that focuses on developing novel statistical methods for biomedical data, including single-cell RNA sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics; and (2) an applied component that focuses on using these methods in clinical and biological studies. He takes a multidisciplinary approach that integrates statistics, machine learning, bioinformatics, and computational biology for multi-omics data analysis. Dr. Hu has also extended his expertise to digital pathology, as cell morphology from histology image data is critical to understanding the tissue microenvironment. He collaborates closely with biomedical researchers to elucidate the structure and function of genomes and to translate genomics knowledge into improved human health.
