Biography
Wendy McKimpson, PhD, is an assistant professor in the Division of Digestive Diseases of the Department of Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. McKimpson is a member of the Cell and Molecular Biology Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University and a faculty member of the Emory Global Diabetes Research Center.
Education
Dr. McKimpson earned her PhD at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She completed her postdoctoral training at Columbia University.

Research
Harnessing her expertise in metabolism and gut biology, Dr. McKimpson’s laboratory investigates fundamental signaling mechanisms of hormone-secreting cells, particularly pancreatic b-cells and gut enteroendocrine cells, in the pathophysiology of diabetes and obesity. The goal of this research is to identify novel therapeutic strategies to ameliorate human disease. Her work has earned numerous accolades, including a K01 career development award from the NIH. In addition to her research, Dr. McKimpson is also dedicated to mentoring the next generation of scientists.
