Background
Susan C. Modesitt, MD, FACOG, FACS, is professor and chair in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at Emory University School of Medicine. A board certified gynecologic oncologist, Dr. Modesitt specializes in the treatment of gynecologic malignancies, and is an attending physician based primarily at Emory University Hospital Midtown and Emory University Hospital. Prior to joining Emory, she was professor and division director of gynecologic oncology at the University of Virginia.
Dr. Modesitt is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American College of Surgeons and has served in multiple leadership roles and committees for Society of Gynecologic Oncology, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and NRG Oncology.
Dr. Modesitt completed medical school at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, her obstetrics and gynecology residency at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and her gynecologic oncology fellowship at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
Dr. Modesitt's research focuses on hereditary cancers, obesity-related cancers and clinical trials in gynecologic oncology.
Dr. Modesitt serves as editor-in-chief of Gynecologic Oncology Reports. She has published extensively on gynecologic cancers.
