Esther A. Obeng, MD, PhD, is an associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Emory University School of Medicine. A pediatric hematologist/oncologist, Dr. Obeng is an attending physician at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. She is a member of the Cell and Molecular Biology Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University.
Education
Dr. Obeng received her MD and PhD from the University of Miami. She completed her residency in the Boston Combined Residency Program in Pediatrics and her pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Boston Children’s Hospital.

The Obeng Lab studies how acquired somatic mutations in hematopoietic stem cells can lead to leukemic transformation and increase the risk of adverse effects, including graft vs. host disease.
