Biography
Dr. Pacifici is a Garland Herndon distinguished professor of medicine and the director of the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Lipids at Emory University School of Medicine.Dr. Pacifici is a member of the Cancer Immunology Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University.
Education
Dr. Pacifici earned his MD from Perugia University School of Medicine in Perugia, Italy, where he also completed his residency. He then pursued a fellowship in Endocrinology at the Jewish Hospital of St. Louis in St. Louis, Missouri.

Research
Dr. Roberto Pacifici's research focuses on microbiota and osteoimmunology, investigating the role of cytokines and immune cells in bone health, particularly related to estrogen and PTH. He has conducted groundbreaking studies on T cell interactions with bone cells, bone densitometry, and the gut microbiome's influence on osteoporosis and bone metastasis. In recent years, his work has expanded to exploring the skeletal effects of gender-affirming hormone therapy and the role of the microbiome in transgender medicine.

Physician spoke very quickly in spite of my hearing difficulty. His explanation of the timing of further steps were somewhat confusing, and he did not give me explicit instructions and phone numbers, also not in his after-visit summary, how to set up the additional appointments. I had to ask at checkout for additional assistance and only later received a phone number for one of the procedures. |

Excellent Doctor visit! Dr. Pacifici was very generous with his time. He accommodated an extensive delay on my part arriving very late by being on route during Emory shooting Incident lockdown. He was extremely easy to converse with regarding my transition from osteopenia to osterperosis. He had very thoroughly previewed all my pertinent records and he detailed all options moving forward.
