David C. Pallas, PhD, is an associate professor in the Department of Biochemistry at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Pallas is a member of the Cell and Molecular Biology Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute.

Research
The primary purpose of the research in Dr. Pallas' laboratory is to understand the molecular basis of the control of cell proliferation and of mechanisms by which this control is circumvented in neoplastic cell growth. The Pallas laboratory utilizes mammalian tumor virus models, mouse models and a variety of cellular approaches to gain new insights into signal transduction pathways involved in tumor suppression and tumorigenesis, especially signaling via the serine/threonine protein phosphatase, PP2A. This knowledge will be applied to help identify new targets for small molecule drug therapy for cancer and other diseases in which aberrant cell proliferation is involved.
