Christine Stanislaw, MS, CGC, joined Emory in 2004 and provides genetic counseling, including risk assessment and test coordination, for individuals and families concerned about the possibility of hereditary cancer susceptibility. Ms. Stanislaw also provides genetic counseling for familial amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) through research collaboration with the University of Miami. She is actively involved in genetic counselor education and training.
A licensed certified genetic counselor, Ms. Stanislaw has a special interest in increasing awareness of and access to genetic services and has received funding to provide genetic counseling and testing to individuals and families at high risk for hereditary breast cancer in the Atlanta area. She works closely with physicians at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University and the Avon Comprehensive Breast Center at Grady Hospital and helped to develop high risk breast clinics at both locations.
Ms. Stanislaw is certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling. Prior to joining Emory University she worked for the Greenwood Genetic Center in Greenville, South Carolina.
Education
Ms. Stanislaw received her undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University and her Master of Science degree in Genetic Counseling from the University of South Carolina.
