Shirley Zhang, PhD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Cell Biology at the Emory University School of Medicine. She is a member of the Cell and Molecular Biology Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University and a faculty member in Emory University's Biochemistry Cell and Developmental Biology Graduate Program.
Education
Dr. Zhang earned her PhD in immunology and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in chronobiology at the University of Pennsylvania.

Research
Dr. Zhang's lab studies the temporal dynamics of the blood-brain barrier in health and disease and the molecular basis of circadian regulation. One focus is the relationship between the molecular circadian clock and cancer regulation. The lab also explores how modifying circadian rhythms or adjusting therapeutic timing, known as chronotherapy, may improve drug treatments including cancer therapies.
