The Friends of Winship Fashion a Cure Fashion Show, which has raised over $1 million since 2013, increases awareness and provides funding to advance research in cancers that affect women.
Fashions for the event are donated by local boutiques and are modeled by cancer survivors and others whose lives have been affected by cancer. On the runway, cancer survivors carry a red rose, caregivers and loved ones a yellow rose and Winship physicians and staff a white rose.
The event also features a silent auction and raffle of items given by the participating boutiques and other donors. Everyone who attends the Fashion a Cure event is touched by cancer in some way, and the collective mood of compassion and support is palpable.
The 2019 Friends of Winship Fashion a Cure Fashion Show was held on Tuesday, March 19, at the St. Regis Atlanta. Co-chairs Peggy Lientz and her daughters Shannon Kollme, Mary Kathryn Green and Margaret Anne Masters, gathered a dynamic team of volunteers to produce another successful event and raising over $350,000 for cancer immunology research at Winship Cancer Institute.
