Winship's Immediate Care Centers provide acute care by oncology-trained experts for patients experiencing cancer-related symptoms or side effects that are urgent but not life threatening.
Immediate Care Tailored to Your Needs
As a patient being treated for cancer, you may experience symptoms or side effects that require immediate medical care.
At our Immediate Care Centers, you have access to a specialized team of oncology doctors, nurses and advance practice providers, who are trained to offer rapid, specialized triage, diagnostics and treatments that are often unique to patients with cancer. Having an immediate care center dedicated to patients like you and staffed by oncology specialists makes your cancer care seamless.
Our team is equipped to address issues related to cancer that need pressing attention but are not life-threatening such as:
Anemia (a low number of red blood cells)
Bleeding
Central line issues
Dehydration
Electrolyte imbalances
Fever or infection
Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea
Pain
Respiratory symptoms
Thrombocytopenia (a low number of platelets in the blood)
If you are experiencing more serious and complex issues, a visit to the emergency room, or even hospitalization, may still be needed.
Appointments are available by referral only for Winship oncology patients of Emory Healthcare (all Emory hospitals and clinics). If you are experiencing cancer-related symptoms that require immediate care, please contact your cancer care team. If appropriate, your Winship doctor or nurse coordinator will refer you to one of our centers for an appointment.
