Winship Gala raises more than $1.8 million for cancer research
The 2024 Winship Gala, held at the St. Regis Atlanta on Saturday, Nov. 9, raised more than $1.8 million to support clinical trials and research projects at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University. This year’s event paid special tribute to the advancements that have been realized at Winship and celebrated the Winship physicians, investigators and medical teams who put patients at the forefront of their work every day.
Three hundred and sixty guests attended the black-tie gala that included cocktails, dinner and dancing. Jane Jordan Casavant and Julie Fox co-chaired the event, and Nancy and David Stonecipher served as honorary chairs. Fundraising was bolstered by premier sponsors Brenda and Mac Nease and presenting sponsors including Sarah and Jim Kennedy and The Ma-Ran Foundation.
“We are grateful for the generous contributions of every donor, sponsor, volunteer and team member who sent a powerful message through their participation in this year’s Winship Gala,” says Suresh S. Ramalingam, MD, executive director of Winship Cancer Institute. “The funds raised will help advance the newest innovations and promising ideas from Winship's extraordinary research teams, bringing hope to patients.”
Now in its eighth edition, the Winship Gala has raised over $8.5 million in support of scientific discoveries at Winship that transform how cancer is prevented, detected, treated and survived.
