Twenty-six nurses graduated on Sept. 25 from Winship’s Oncology Nurse Residency Program, designed to support nurses as they transition into the specialized field of oncology.
Twenty-six nurses graduated on Sept. 25 from Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University's Oncology Nurse Residency Program, highlighting the successful completion of the first year of the program, which included three cohorts: spring, summer and fall 2024. The completion ceremony celebrated the nurses’ hard work, resilience and dedication.
Launched in 2023, Winship's Oncology Nurse Residency Program is designed to support nurses in their first year of work as they transition into the specialized field of oncology. The evidence-based curriculum combines online modules, in-person classes and skills practice sessions to give participants the tools to provide exceptional care to patients and their families facing cancer.
Looking ahead, leaders in the program are excited about its future and continued impact on developing skilled and compassionate oncology nurses. They remain committed to fostering an environment of growth, learning and excellence in patient care with the launch of a new winter cohort in 2025. The winter cohort will accommodate the increasing number of oncology nurses joining the teams. This expansion reflects the program’s dedication to supporting the professional development of its nurses.
