Winship’s Clifton clinics undergo renovations to enhance care experience
Clinics on the second floor of Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University's Clifton campus location are undergoing renovation efforts to enhance the clinic experience for patients and staff.
Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University is undergoing renovation efforts, which will be completed in three 8- to 10-week phases, starting in early March and ending in September 2025. Construction kicked off March 4 on the Clifton campus.
The renovations will add nine new exam rooms on the second floor of Winship Building C, increasing the total from 34 to 43 (roughly 26%). In addition, new equipment will be purchased for all 43 exam rooms to allow for full ADA compliance, with height-adjustable exam tables that are both patient- and staff-friendly. Former offices will be converted into six sizable 12-person team rooms, allowing all members of the care team to work together in a collaborative approach to patient care. Additional upgrades include new waiting room furniture and repainting the clinic with brighter colors.
“The expanded team room model allows for all members of the care team to help get patients into Winship in a timely manner so that their treatment can begin,” says Chris Zorn, Winship’s director of operations. “We’re aiming to create a more comfortable and welcoming experience for patients and their families.”
This construction is part of efforts to enhance the clinic experience for patients and staff. According to Zorn, Winship’s new clinic footprint on the second floor will provide space for disease-specific teams to grow and attract faculty engaged in the future of cancer research and clinical trial enrollment. These renovations follow recent updates to the first floor, including the new Glenn Family Breast Center, updated breast imaging center and patient wellness center, new integrative oncology clinic and the new Winship Cafe.
"The expansion of exam rooms and care team spaces on the second floor of Winship Building C will enable even more patients to receive the high-quality care Winship is known for,” says Sheryl M. Bluestein, MBA, MHA, senior vice president of cancer service line operations for Winship and Emory Healthcare. “As we continue to recruit exceptional clinicians, we are grateful for the opportunity to grow our clinical space, enhance collaboration among our care teams, advance research and ultimately reduce the burden of cancer in Georgia and beyond.”
