As Georgia’s only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, Winship meets the highest national standards for cancer care. This includes pushing the envelope in cancer research to develop more effective treatments for lymphoma. What does that mean for you?

Lymphoma Survival at Winship

Our NCI designation recognizes us for our fully comprehensive approach to researching and treating cancer, which has been shown to improve lymphoma outcomes. Research shows survival rates are up to 25% higher when starting treatment at an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center.

How Winship Improves Lymphoma Outcomes

  • Clinical trials and studies. You have access to Winship’s groundbreaking research, such as: the Lymphoma Epidemiology of Outcomes (LEO) program, which studies cancer care and survivorship among lymphoma patients; CAR T-cell therapy, an emerging immunotherapy; patient education programs in partnership with the Lymphoma Research Foundation; and more.
  • Weekly discussions. Our specialists in medical oncology, hematopathology, radiology and interventional pulmonology, among others, meet weekly to discuss complicated lymphoma cases among our patients.
  • Weekly updates. We host a weekly internal clinical trial meeting to review patients enrolled in trials, discuss new clinical trials, match patients with trials that fit their cancer and analyze the performance of ongoing trials.

Side Effects of Lymphoma Treatment

During treatment for Hodgkin lymphoma and non-Hodgkin lymphoma, you may experience both short-term and long-term side effects. Some of them are similar to those of other cancers and some are specific to lymphoma. At Winship, making sure you get the most precise treatment with the least side effects is important to us — and key to lymphoma outcomes. Your medical care team takes steps to lessen all side effects of cancer treatment, but with a special emphasis on those that are particular to lymphoma, such as infections or heart complications.
