Winship investigators present at AACR annual meeting
Winship investigators will present new cancer research findings at the AACR Annual Meeting, taking place April 8-12.
The113th annual American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) meeting, to be held in New Orleans April 8-12, will feature numerous oral and poster presentations by Winship Cancer Institute and Emory University investigators and trainees. The conference will have both in-person and virtual components.
On Saturday,Gabe A. Kwong, PhD, Winship member and assistant professor in the Emory University and Georgia Institute of Technology Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering, will chair a methods workshop from 2:30 to 4 p.m. titled "Synthetic biomarkers: A twenty-first century path to early cancer detection."
On Sunday, Winship memberLauren E. McCullough, PhD, MSPH, assistant professor of epidemiology in the Rollins School of Public Health will discuss "Digging deeper: The biologic manifestation of area-level neighborhood deprivation in breast cancer outcomes" during an Advances in Science of Cancer Health Disparities session from 1:30 to 1:50 p.m., and Winship memberAjay K. Nooka, MD, MPH, will present highlights from the AACR/Harvard Business School/Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation Summit: Reducing Disparities and Democratizing Cancer Care, which was held in October 2021.
Cimona V. Hinton, PhD, Winship coalition member and professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Clark Atlanta University, will chair a mini-symposium focused on the molecular principles of metastasis, and serve on the "Trust in Science" panel Monday, April 11.
Professor of hematology and oncology in research ethicsRebecca Pentz, PhD, will participate in the "Breaking Down Silos: If We Did It During the COVID Pandemic, Why Not for Cancer?" panel discussion on Tuesday from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.
