Patient Guide to BMT

Our Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplant Center care team have put together information to help you prepare in advance by learning and understanding what to expect with the transplantation process.

The following videos provide guidance on what to expect and how to prepare for your procedure.

What to Expect for Your Bone Marrow Transplant

Ivey Jowers, nurse coordinator at Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplant Center, describes what to expect leading up to and during a bone marrow transplant, and during recovery after the procedure.

Central Line Dressing Change

Dressings are special bandages that block germs and keep your central venous catheter site dry and clean. Watch the video to learn how to change your dressing.

Central Line Flushing Instructions

A central venous catheter must be flushed every day to keep it clear of blood and prevent clotting. Watch the video to learn how to flush your central line.

Getting Ready for Stem Cell Collection

Stephanie Stringer, manager at Emory University Hospital Hemapheresis Unit, discusses what to do three days prior, the day before, and the morning of a stem cell collection. She also covers what to expect during the process and how long it will take.

Please view the video at least three days before your scheduled collection. If you have any questions about your scheduled stem cell collection, please call (404) 712-7028.
