Researching Uterine Cancer Developing Novel Therapies at Winship

While the incidence of endometrial cancer and uterine sarcoma has increased over the years, survival rates have largely stayed the same, thanks to advances in uterine cancer research.

At Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University, Georgia’s only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, we are introducing and collaborating with other academic cancer centers across the country on lifesaving cancer research.

Uterine cancer research, like the efforts at Winship, has led to the development of novel treatments and the establishment of treatment protocols and therapy sequencing. Another important area of concern is outcomes research, which involves analyzing massive amounts of data to identify which treatments are working in patients across the country.

Pioneering discoveries in the lab are ultimately translated into the latest treatments in the clinic. Winship’s bench-to-bedside cancer research program enables physician scientists to discover, develop and deliver game-changing procedures, technologies, diagnostics and treatments. Clinical Trials at Winship

In addition to standard therapy, many Winship patients with cervical cancer are eligible to participate in a clinical trial. Clinical trials are controlled studies that test new interventions on a disease, such as ovarian cancer. They offer participants early access to novel treatments that are not yet commercially available.
