Small Bowel Cancer Survival Rates
Small bowel cancer is rare. In the United States, about 14,500 people are diagnosed with a type of small bowel cancer each year. Survival rates vary depending on the type of cancer, its location in the body and its stage at diagnosis.
There are four types of small bowel cancer: adenocarcinoma, neuroendocrine tumors, lymphoma and sarcoma. Adenocarcinoma is the most common, accounting for 40% of all cases, and is generally associated with less favorable outcomes than other types. Neuroendocrine tumors are rarer but often have more favorable survival outcomes, especially for patients with Stage IV small bowel cancer.
