Intervention Development, Dissemination and Implementation Shared Resource

Our expertise supports Winship members in developing, testing or disseminating behavioral, educational and systems interventions to prevent cancer, detect cancer early and/or improve survivorship among Georgia residents.

We have supported numerous Winship members representing schools and departments from across Emory University including School of Medicine, Rollins School of Public Health, Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing and others.

We have a track record of helping researchers refine research questions, identify and develop instruments to answer those questions, and collect and analyze behavioral research data using quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods approaches. Our services include:

Qualitative and Quantitative Instrument Development, Data Collection, and Data Analysis

• Develop interview and focus group guides.
• Conduct qualitative data analysis, including codebook development, coding and summary matrices development.
• Program surveys in Qualtrics, REDCap, etc.
• Conduct basic quantitative data analysis, such as t-tests, frequencies, etc.

Grant Proposal or Study Protocol Development

• Help develop conceptual model, specific aims, study design, data collection and analysis plans related to our research services.
• Six hours of grant proposal development are subsidized 100% for Winship members for cancer projects (i.e., Winship members get six hours of assistance for free for help with IDDI sections of the grant).

Formative Research with Diverse Populations

• Gather quantitative or qualitative data for the development and implementation of intervention programs through interviews or focus groups.
• Conduct community assessment to examine barriers and facilitators to intervention/change strategies.

Intervention Research

• Examine change strategies and their effectiveness with various populations.
• Adapt intervention to new populations or settings.

Dissemination and Implementation Research

• Conduct implementation science (studying barriers and facilitators to implementation, developing and testing implementation strategies) and evaluation.
• Design and assess the effectiveness of strategies to implement an intervention.
• Evaluate the scale-up of an effective intervention to diverse settings.
• Integrate social network methods in the study of implementation or delivery of intervention.

Study Design

• Advise on and assist with study design, including sampling, stratification, recruitment, incentives, and other elements for randomized controlled trials, qualitative interviews, focus groups, and survey research.
• Provide interview and/or focus group coordination and tracking (e.g., developing tracking sheets for recruitment, interview completion, incentives tracking, etc.).

Mixed Methods Research

(Approach where researchers collect both qualitative and quantitative data)

• Collect quantitative and qualitative data for cancer research.
• Analyze and interpret the data in an integrated manner where the different data sources complement each other.

Health Communication

Social Network Analysis

• Social network analysis (SNA) is a technique that allows one to assess the connections between members (i.e., individuals or groups of individuals, such as agencies) within a particular bounded network.
• Design SNA data collection instruments and methods, network visualization and analysis.

Training Services

• Train research team members to conduct interviews or focus groups.
• Train research team members to conduct qualitative data analysis (e.g., coding).
• Provide Qualtrics and REDCap consultation/training.
• Provide interview coordination consultation/training.
